When you remove the primary disk will the secondary then (temporarily) take over?

Or how would you handle an upgrade to the primary disk while keeping the data in the Monument database?

Fantastic question! We have discussed this many times and data migration to a new disk is a feature that we are 100% planning on building. Currently, the secondary disk does not take over.

What does happen then if you remove the HD? Is the database then deleted or does it still keep entries to photos it will never have access to again?

The database will not be deleted.

When you open the app and go to Settings --> USB Drives, you have (2) options: Remove or Eject.

Ejecting the hard drive will allow you to plug it into a computer/laptop and then plug it back into Monument without any issues.

Removing the hard drive will forget the drive (content will not be deleted, but will not be accessible by Monument).

What happens to the previews on the mobile devices in case of a removal? Are they forgotten too?

The previews will not be available in the Monument App if the hard drive is ejected, but they will be once plugged back in.

If the hard drive is "Removed" by going to Settings --> USB Drives, then the previews will not be available in the future.
