Delete Backed Up Content
Photos and videos that have been backed up to Monument can be deleted from your iOS or Android device to create more free space. All of the content will still be available in the Monument app and the original files can be downloaded as well.
Suggested Article: Download Original Photos
Note: iPhone Settings > Monument app > Photos > Read and write must be
selected.
- Go to Settings > Free up space on my phone
- Monument will search for backed up photos and videos
- Click Remove
- Click Delete
- Monument will start to delete content
- For iOS users, please go to your Recently Deleted album on the device to permanently delete

How does this affect the iCloud sync? Will the removal of images in the phone also remove the images from iCloud?
@ThomazGustafsson
Monument moves the deleted content to your Recently Deleted album in the Photos app. From there, you can permanently delete that content and it will also be deleted from iCloud.
My android s8 gets an error screen when I select this option.
@Toby
Thanks for the feedback! This is a known bug and it will be fixed in the next Android app update (version 3.1.0).
It would be great if you could select albums or photos in a date range NOT to delete from your phone. Right now, Monument does a complete deletion of all photos from your phone, as long as they’ve been backed up to Monument. Sad when you are trying to save favorites or a portfolio album but still want to off load a ton of photos
Yes, I would like to delete just my videos from my phone and not the pictures...
Hi, my iPhone 11 also gets an error screen when I try to free up space. Is this a known error?
Hi Chris,
There was an issue with 2.17.0 which affected some clients. Please make sure you're running the latest version - 2.17.1
This should work without any issues.
Please let me know if you have any other questions. I'd be happy to help.
