Unsure, once the conversion is done, and you unplug the old primary drive from 1, do you leave the new primary drive in 2? when we replace the back-up drive, do we put it into the open 1? This is not explained in the instructions.

    Hi Michael,

Just to make sure: this article shows the details if you want to convert your Backup drive into the Primary. Once the backup drive becomes the new Primary, you can unplug the old Primary drive. If you intended to use the old primary as the new backup drive, you can plug in the old Primary again and you will be prompted if you want to use it as a backup drive.

If you're looking to change/upgrade your primary drive, please follow the instructions on this article: https://help.getmonument.com/hc/en-us/articles/360035685933-Upgrading-the-Primary-Drive

    Hope this clarifies your question.

If the backup drive has status synced and then the primary drive has a hardware failure. How to you force the conversion of backup to primary ? Given that you can't resurrect the primary drive . Primary drive controller failed.

    Hi there!

I've tried this process and although both drives appear "Synced", when I try to Convert the Backup to Primary the App says there is still a process in "progress"... Tried to eject the disks and restart Monument but without success :-(

    What now ?

Same Question as Jose Pizarro, Backup drive has "synced" status and Primary failed.

Doesn't the conversion complete? It is in "0%" status for a good 7hrs so far. Any idea how to make my Backup drive as Primary now?

    Hi RK,

Before applying this change, could you please run a health check on the primary drive to fix possible file system errors using your computer? Also, if the drive is formatted NTFS, make sure you're using a Windows computer to run the health check. Mac computers can not fix filesystem errors for NTFS formatted drives.

If you can not recover the drive, you can follow this procedure to restore your library from the backup drive.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Hi Eric, My Primary drive got corrupted. It is not recognized by my Windows Computer. That's the reason, I wanted to convert my secondary into primary.

You mentioned primary drive everywhere in these instructions - https://help.getmonument.com/hc/en-us/articles/360033947073-Restoring-A-Previous-Backup.

Can I use my backup/secondary drive and still follow the same instructions? Please confirm. Thanks.
