Converting the backup drive
If you would like to convert your Backup Drive into your Primary Drive, please follow the steps below. Only the Owner of Monument can complete this procedure.
- First make sure your app and firmware versions are up to date
- Go to Settings > Hard Drives > Backup Drive > Click the Settings Icon > Convert to Primary
- The first message will explain what will happen - click Convert
- The second message will let you know the backup drive will first finish syncing to the primary drive - click Convert
- The third message will tell you that this process cannot be undone - click Convert
- The backup drive will start converting
- A message will appear once it's complete
- Then go back to Settings > Hard Drives and you will see your new Primary Drive
- Unplug your old Primary Drive from Monument
- A Backup Drive can now also be connected

Unsure, once the conversion is done, and you unplug the old primary drive from 1, do you leave the new primary drive in 2? when we replace the back-up drive, do we put it into the open 1? This is not explained in the instructions.
Hi Michael,
Just to make sure: this article shows the details if you want to convert your Backup drive into the Primary. Once the backup drive becomes the new Primary, you can unplug the old Primary drive. If you intended to use the old primary as the new backup drive, you can plug in the old Primary again and you will be prompted if you want to use it as a backup drive.

If the backup drive has status synced and then the primary drive has a hardware failure. How to you force the conversion of backup to primary ? Given that you can't resurrect the primary drive . Primary drive controller failed.

I've tried this process and although both drives appear "Synced", when I try to Convert the Backup to Primary the App says there is still a process in "progress"... Tried to eject the disks and restart Monument but without success :-(
