Hi Anton! The roadmap has been updated. Manual face tagging and filtering photos not in albums are now available for iOS. Live photos support will be coming before the end of October and photo editing will be made available in November! :)

    Also, just to note:

We have a Beta iPad App available for testing to those people interested. Just send us a message at support@getmonument.com! We'll be happy to send the download link.

Are the live photo support added? Will the live photos end up in a separate album? Will my live photos on my iPhone and iPad be deleted if I click ”free up space on my phone” if only normal JPG are backuped to my monument?

Pardon me if I miss something I had my monument for a couple of days only!

Great question! We are almost ready to release the firmware update that will support live photos.

Currently, only the photo portions of "live photos" are backed up, but once the firmware update is released, Monument will automatically scan your device for the missing video portions and back them up.

The live photos will look exactly how they look like in your phone (photo and video files together).

Free up space on your phone will remove both the JPG and video portion of the live photos.

When will there be a new release?

Photo editing and live photo support are "nearly ready" for the last 3 months now.

The firmware and app updates for live photo support have been released :)

Please make sure you are on the latest versions:

Photo editing will soon be available - we've currently running more tests.

There are a lot of must-have features for a photo organizer that are not listed here, which concerns me. This includes basics like:

    • Adding titles and/or comments to pictures
    • Ability to manually click and drag to highlight a face that just doesn't get recognized by facial recognition, then assign a name to it (Apple Photos does this, for instance)
    • Ability to update date and time stamps on photos, both individually and in batches, by adding or subtracting some amount of time from each selected photo's date. This will make it easy to fix "time wasn't set in the camera" situations.
    • Support for EXIF photo rotation data. If a photo's marked as being rotated, or there's accelerometer data in the photo indicating that it was turned one way or another when taking the picture, that should be taken into account when showing the photo.
    • Support for manually rotating the image
    • Good cropping support, both arbitrary and forced to a specific aspect ratio
    • Red-eye removal (bonus points for also supporting pet green-eye removal)
    • Really, some basic brightness, contrast, and shadow adjustment controls would be useful
    • Clean support on both desktop and mobile for using external editors to do more intensive work on photos kept on Monument
    • Custom smart albums; for example, I want one that gathers up all the photos of a specific set of people (family and close friends, for instance), taken in the past six months

I know there's more, but those are just the basic ones I could come up with in a couple of minutes.

    @Hunter:

You definitely need to upgrade the Android app with all the features that are already available in the iOS app.

For example "view photos not in an album" is a very important feature as well as manual face tagging.

    Hi,

I can understand that a backup to a nas or to an other monument needs some development, but is it so difficult to have a simple cloud backup for a small price, If some thing happens to the monument, or the harddrive I will lose all my photos.

This is my biggest fear. I really need a solution for an automatic backup on a different location.

    Thanks,

    Aschwin
