I agree. I posted a simple question 2 days ago, and still no response. Not very happy with the product or the service

After the firmware update, I was unable to make any progress. I couldn't even delete my profile to start over again. And the password reset function froze. Complete time waster device

Unfortunately I'm coming to the same conclusion. I'm just glad I held off recommending it to family.

I had such high hopes for monument, I was super excited. I also own two devices.

At the very least they should open source the software and give us the ability to develop and update the device locally.

I concur with everyone.  This is not the plug 'n play panacea for backing up photos. I have Lightening to USB back-up devices that work flawlessly - these are not large enough for my purpose and this looked like it would solve my workflow issue, but alas it really sucks and only intermittently works.  It's a good thing I got a $25 discount.......I really would like my money back......

Looking like I am going to return as well - seems to be buggy at every turn

I, too, have tried to make this concept work, but it is just not to be.

First, the case is not big enough for two ok-sized external drives (1TB each)

Second, the unit cannot power the two external drives EVEN THOUGH IT IS PLUGGED IN, necessitating another type of adapter.

Third, for some reason, the software does not import all my photos, even though they are each originals and each are in file types accepted by Monument - and there's no easy way of knowing what was imported or not.

I did appreciate the quick responses from Monument staff on some issues and they helped me get certain things accomplished, but when I learned I needed yet another adapter to get the backup function working, I decided that I am done with this product.

Great concept in theory, but needs significant upgrades to the hardware and software to become more than just a tinkerer's dream.

    Which drives did you buy?

I have two 2 TB Seagates similar to the recommended ones (but not exactly the same). Didn't have any problems with fitting or power.

It takes a long time after a large import, until everything is available in Monument. About 1 day for around 5000 pictures. I guess it is doing the image recognition and preview generation during that time. You can check that the LED on the device is still blinking and when you are on the "Faces" menu the app says it is still analysing images for new faces.

But you are right, it is not completely transparent. It is for example confusing that the images are imported out of order. So if you see the first and last of your images you get tricked into the assumption that the pictures in between also should be available already. They are not necessarily.

I'm out as well.  Half of the features (face recognition, geotagging) either don't work or work intermittently.
